Zerlynde's Breakthrough
My youngest sister Hooi Yie and her family were back in Penang for the Merdeka break. So, we decided to spend the weekend at Golden Sands Hotel, principally to expose the kids to some sun instead of having them cooped up at home the whole day.
It was a fantastic weekend, to say the very least. For us, it was mainly due to a very special reason. Zerlynde who has thus far been afraid of the water had a major breakthrough. We brought her to the babies pool on Saturday as soon as we checked into the hotel. I went into the pool first. Then we coaxed her to join in. Despite her protestation, daddy handed her over to me. She initially kicked a fuss but gradually felt more at ease and soon began to enjoy herself, experimenting with the various water play. Toward the end, we literally had to drag her out of the pool.
All Geared Up for the Adventure
The next morning, we asked Zerlynde if she wanted to go swimming again. She couldn't wait! So, immediately after breakfast, we headed for the pool, this time a bigger one. There, daddy showed Zerlynde and her cousin Ke Ying all sort of tricks; diving, blowing air into water to form bubbles, squirting water using his palms, etc, the girls were so very fascinated. Needless to say, it was no easy task getting them out of water an hour later.
The adults had their own share of fun playing a game of virtual Cash Flow from midnight to 5am. That accounted for some MIAs on Sunday morning.
We had a few moment of peace in the hotel room on Saturday evening when the playpen was brought in, that is, until the novelty wore off and bored Zerlynde made her own escapade after her pleas for assistance to get out were conveniently ignored by us all...
p.s. I must add, I was not much of a "samseng" as a toddler, so Zerlynde did not inherit this particular trait from me ;)
