Bukit Tinggi Resort

It took us more than an hour to reach our destination. We headed straight to Colmar Tropicale, a mock French town consisting of pastel coloured buildings around a cobbledstone central courtyard said to be inspired by Colmar Village in Alsace, France. Admittedly, the artist's impression does remind me vaguely of Salzburg and perhaps also of Vienna. Since we were in "France", we thought we should first have our croissants and Danish Pastries. So the eight of us (mum, dad, my sis Kitty, Zerlynde, my hubby Kenzu, his mum, his god-mum & I) sipped our teas and capuccino in a French Bakery gazing at
the other tourists, mostly locals, drawn to the replica of a French village, nothing better to do on a Merdeka Day. Snap, snap, snap, pictures were furiously taken here and there. "There, you can now tell your friends you've been to Europe", I told my parents. Indeed, they could have successfully passed it off if not for the Malaysian flags flying in the background.

After about half an hour strolling about aimlessly, we drove to the Japanese Village for a taste of the east. My father's eyeballs nearly popped out when he realised the whole idea was for us to to walk through the winding Japanese footpath. But the effort was well worth it. The ponds were filled with koi so huge and golden and beautiful, Zerlynde went all excited she repeatedly said "bishh" at the sight. Towards the end of our route, we were pleasantly surprised to see a rest area in the form of a tatami hut, much to the relief of my dad and Kenzu's mum. So, we stopped over to catch our breath and also to give Zerlynde her feed but she was too distracted by her surroundings to finish her milk.

Our last stop was The Rabbit Farm. Zerlynde unfortunately had already nodded off by then, so it was left to us adults, particularly Kenzu, his mum and Kitty to do the chasing and catching. The white bunnies with pink eyes are cute, the black and brown ones less attractive. The hybrid ones, white with black patches especially around their black eyes are absolutely eerie-looking. My hair stands on end just looking at them. Didn't even know they existed before.

So, that was our day trip to Bukit Tinggi Resort. If you asked me, I'd say just go for the day and forget about staying over at the over-priced hotels, unless you wanna escape the haze or the temperature of 37 degrees celcius. Perched 3500 feet above sea level, Bukit Tinggi Resort indeed offers a cool and refreshing change.
