Nightmare at Pacific
When told that the Pacific Mall was going to be opened for a period of 36 hours, I came up with the not-so-brilliant suggestion that we did our Chinese New Year shopping there after midnight on Sunday morning so as to avoid the crowd. So, after putting Zerlynde to sleep, the 4 of us, my parents, Kenzu and I drove to the mall situated about 15 minutes away from our home. To our unpleasant surprise, we were first welcomed by a long queue of cars waiting to be parked. Then we had to spend 20 minutes searching for a shopping trolley. Next, came the nightmare of having to manoeuvre the trolley amongst the rest of the midnight shoppers along the narrow alleys. By 1am, we were all so exhausted that we decided to go home but not before queuing for another 40 minutes to pay!
It would have been considered a disastrous event had we not chanced upon some Akemi lace and embroidered bedlinens sold at 70% discount. Mum and I got all excited that we grabbed 2 whole sets, paying RM360/- instead of RM1,200/- So, despite the exhaustion, we left the Mall with smiles on our face. We even had a little energy left to have supper in BM town.
And Kenzu said that next year, he will be there at 6am instead of midnight to avoid the crowd.
