Susan Hill's The Woman in Black
Wilkie Collin's Woman in White, Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera and Bram Stoker's Dracula. These are my all time favourite horror/gothic novels.
I am constantly looking for additions to my list. None has made it so far, until the discovery of this truly spine-chilling short story by Susan Hill. I love it! And I have to confess I couldn't keep my mind off it for half an hour or so after finishing the book last night.
