Experimenting with Video Light

Kok Wai, Penny and I went to Port Klang last Saturday evening to try out his newly acquired Video Light. Due to the haze, there were no sunset shots taken as originally intended. We discovered that the Video Light actually worked better in the dark.

Funeral Blues - W.H.Auden

Morbid. So beautiful nevertheless....

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead
Scribbling on the sky the message He is Dead.
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves,
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves.

He was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever: I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one,
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun,
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods;
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

I love Serendipity!

Thank God the Dark Clouds Have Shifted

The months of May and June this year have been most trying for me. I have had to make difficult choices, to reflect on life's purposes and to contemplate death, even.

During this period of bad weather, I have had the good fortune of being surrounded by many good friends and loved one, who offered and supported me with words of comfort and actions of kindness. I have never felt so cared for in all my life.

So, despite the dark clouds, I will always remember these Summer months of 2009 with deep gratitude and as the beginning of a new life for me.

My Mother

My mother has been staying with us the past 7 weeks. She is here to care specifically for her grandson pre and post surgery. She is also here to make sure her granddaughter learns to spell and read.

My mother is the kind of person who makes sure there is everyone's favourite dish at the dinner table. Fried egg with ginger for me but without for Zuwern. Salted fish and sambal for her son-in-law. Vegetables for my sister. Red dates soup for me. Chicken & corn soup for the kids. It doesn't matter what she has. Her self interest is insignificant. Her joy comes from seeing that everyone else at home is happy and satisfied.

My mother is the epitome of unconditional love. She is one of my most significant blessings. And I don't know what I would do without her...

Hors de Prix (Priceless)

One of the best films to come from the French moviemakers in recent years... Wished I had a wardrobe like Audrey Tautou's in the film....

BoGoShipDa (Miss You)

Love this song.... and was thrilled to find the piano score last weekend....

Since the kids are under quarantine in view of the H1N1 and the surgery and etc., we do try to engage them in some fun activities once in a while.... and Er Ee has been extraordinarily indulgent and generous with her time and energy....
